heavy rocks: boris at the kings arms march 28 2012
Psychedelic rock from Japan … Boris at the Kings Arms, Auckland, March 28 2012. I don’t think I have ever seen such a towering backline of Marshall and Orange amplification behind any band. Nothing more to add but a quote from the promoter on a sign outside the venue … “Warning! This show is fucking loud!” Slang-King has a few more photos here.

BORIS - Kings Arms, Auckland 28 March 2012
I hadn’t intended going, as I’d never heard of them and it being a mid-week show, but Jonathan had two tickets and no one to go with. Turned out to be a really great night out. Boris are an amazing mix of Krautrock, Metal, ambient atmospherics & speed freak noise; bit like Jakob & Brain Donor meet Amon Duul with female vocals (but that doesn’t do them justice, you’ll need to go checkout youtube). The drummer was a total maniac, who looked remarbably like the white-version Michael Jackson from where I was standing; drum stands & crowd-surfing. Oh, almost forgot, they were F**KING LOUD.
